What We Do
AVCON was established in 1988 with the vision of serving as award‑winning aviation consultants. From its beginnings as a small firm with four employees, AVCON has grown to more than 140 highly qualified engineering and planning professionals across offices throughout the Southeast.
AVCON’s airport professionals have supported the planning, design, permitting, and construction of projects at more than 100 airports, many through continuing service and on‑call agreements at airports of varying sizes. AVCON’s engineers and planners have completed a wide range of airport projects, including airport master plans, environmental and condition assessments, DBE plans, airfield pavement design, lighting and navigational aids, hangar development, terminal improvements, fuel facilities, security and access control systems, roadway and parking facilities, and utility and stormwater infrastructure.
AVCON also provides specialty services related to airfield and lighting evaluations, electrical vault analyses, and capacity studies using in‑house testing equipment and trained staff. These capabilities support safe, cost‑effective, and efficient project solutions while reducing impacts to airport users during construction.
In addition to airfield expertise, AVCON offers civil engineering design services for landside airport elements, including utilities, roadways, parking facilities, structural support for hangars and building infrastructure, and electrical design for power distribution and airfield systems. AVCON’s construction experience enables the development of accurate quantity takeoffs and realistic cost estimates, supporting effective budgeting for both small and large multi‑phase projects. The firm has provided design and construction phase services for runway, taxiway, and apron programs at both commercial and general aviation airports.
